City: Saint Petersburg

Country: Russia

Genre:  Techno / Electro / Acid

Welcome - Introduce yourself to our audience. Anything special you would like the audience to know?

Hello everyone, my real name is Sergey and my creative nickname is Roni Rix. I am a DJ and producer from St. Petersburg, Russia. Last year, I released an independent EP -Exitium. Where through the dark and minimalistic structure of the tracks, I conveyed the topic of pollution of the planet, the extermination of rare species of animals, and as a consequence, the disappearance of people as a biological species through the darkening track structure.

In the final track, Devastatio, I tried to convey to the listener how our planet begins to adapt to a new life. To life without people!

In mid-December 2019, a release was released on the young Mexican label, Destiny Records.

Describe to us your musical style. What are your influences and how did you arrive at this sound?

I don’t limit myself to the framework of one style. Mostly it is about Techno sounding, mixed with Acid and something Industrial - certainly emotional.

I am always experimenting with different sound formats and am constantly on the lookout. Perhaps this is the whole buzz. In fact, there are always two personalities fighting in me and at the same time, trying to find a middle ground (balance).
The first person likes something darker and more aggressive. Where the barrel directly hits the listener’s face, thereby bringing him to his senses. The second person prefers a more relaxed atmosphere and is more prone to sentimentality. That spills out in turn through the "Sentimental Podcast".

What is your current production setup? Do you regret getting rid of anything that you still wish you had today?

My setup is this:
Macbook pro
Ableton
Arturia Minilab mk2
Mic Audio-Technica AT2020
Pioneer DDJ sr
Oldies Microlab Pro 3
and several headphones (for DJing, mixing)

Now I want to get decent monitors and Maschine mk3 in exchange for the sold Akai mpd18.

What are you currently doing to push your own limits in terms of the music you make?

Last year, a lot of time was spent on organizing night events which I did with my girlfriend. It sometimes distracted me from creativity. Now I try to devote more time and attention to music. I go deeper into the world of sound design.

Any upcoming projects you with to share?

A sufficient number of projects have now accumulated but everything is waiting in the wings. On some material, negotiations are underway with labels that are interesting to me, and so far I do not want to say too much about this. Just keep following me on social networks.

If you were a characteristic of sound, which would you be?

I think it would be something metallic. If to personify yourself as an object, it would be a metal string.

Roni Rix, in a few sentences. Tell us about this mix you made for us. Where did you get your inspiration. Is there anything special you want the audience to know?

The concept of the mix is simple. My mood and condition lasted a couple of days while I collected the material and subsequently created an impromptu mix, as I always do - so that life remains (even if there are small errors in the bowl). Thus, it's easy to share my mood with other listeners.
