Can you introduce yourself to our audience? What would you like them to know?

My name is Tiffany. I’m from a small big town called Mount Laurel. I’m 21 but my birthday is in 4 days (Feb. 8th). I’m excited about it but growing old will always be a weird feel. My favorite color is baby yellow and my favorite candies are the strawberry and cherry Twizzlers. I like going to the beach and writing. I like stand-up comedy and comic books, planets and MUSIC. I collect vinyl and cds.

What is the Orion Sun?

Before the music I wanted to be an astronaut. I’ve always been interested and nervous about what is beyond our planet. The stories about the constellations have always intrigued me. I felt a strong connection to the Orion constellation, but only in the sense that he is a hunter. Whenever i’m creating, whether it be lyrics or production, I always feel that hunting spirit. Like i’m looking for parts of myself through this process. The sun half of my name came along after feeling like a better friend/daughter at a distance from people. If the sun got any closer we’d die. It’s at the right length for coexisting. I know people don’t feel this way about me but it is my internal dialogue most times. I find comfort in making music, almost to the point where I feel like it keeps me sane. I make music because I have to. I’ve created a world for myself to go to when my reality isn’t the nicest place to be. I want to continue building that world until I get lost in it. Orion Sun is me.

Your music and vocals are very unique. When did you really start to formulate your sound?

I’m having a hard time pinpointing the exact moment I really started to formulate my sound. All I really can say is that my method is about creating melodies and sounds that make me feel nice. In turn, I feel like my sound just kinda came naturally.

Can you tell us about some of your influences? Local, International and other.

Lauren Hill, Frank Ocean, Kanye West, Stevie Wonder, Nat King Cole, Nancy Wilson, Brian Mcknight

My grandma used to sing as well. Last but not least, my old high school music teacher, Mr. Traub. He passed away the Summer going into my Junior year.

When it comes to music production, what platforms do you prefer? Is there anything you would like to get into, in terms of making music?

Up until mid January, i’ve been using Garageband only because my resources were low. My best friend Lilah, gave me her old Macbook and I taught myself how to use it. Now that I have Abelton, I feel like i’m back at square one, but i’m determined to push through the learning curve. I’ve gotten into sampling more and im looking forward to getting into touring a bit and gaining experiences just so I can write more.

"It's only the beginning."

Philadelphia. Tell about the music scene there. Any memories you’d like to share?

I love the Philadelphia music scene. It was a big reason why I moved out here. There is an energy here that I can’t explain. I do remember my first show ever. I tripped over the the mic wire and knocked down the mic stand and the mic stand fell onto the P.A system and there was feedback for 3 minutes. I managed to clear the room - lol. Afterwards, there were so many supportive people with encouraging words to give even though the circumstances weren’t ideal.

Orion. Take us through the next couple of years. Where do you want to be? What do you want be doing? What can the people expect?

I don’t know what the future holds for me but I hope I get to tour the world writing songs. I want to be happy longer than I am not. You can expect from me definitely working on new music and perfecting the art that is performing. It’s only the beginning.

Favorite songs of all time?

Street Lights - Kanye West

Endless - Frank Ocean

Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You - Lauryn Hill

By the Time I Get to Phoenix- Glen Campbell

Anything by Stevie Wonder and Nat King Cole

If Orion is the sun, what / who is the moon?

Still searching!

Orion Sun, in a few sentences. Tell us about this mix you made for us. Where did you get your inspiration? Is there anything special you want the audience to know?

I wanted to give you some old stuff and some new stuff. Thank you for listening, it means the world to me.
