Marite, let’s get right into it. Tell us about your DJ residencies in Caracas. What are some of your fondest memories?
My first ever residency was at Suka Bar in Caracas, and some of my best memories are from there. It isn't really a place you'd remember for anything other than the music and the vibe, and it's always nice to play there every time I visit. It's one of those places that never changes. Also, for the last two years that I was living there, I used to throw a bi-monthly party called La Disco with my friend Gusher. It kept growing and we ended up having a loyal crowd that always came and made it great. I really miss it!
How has the electronic music scene developed in the time that you were there?

Despite the bad circumstances in the country, music has always been the perfect escape in moments of crisis. I have seen the electronic music scene grow a lot in the last years, and people seem to like it more every day. I'm very thankful that the EDM boom is coming to an end, because that was really happening there haha.
You recently moved to New York. What did you leave behind in Venezuela and what did you discover when you arrived to the big city?

I basically left my entire career there and had to start over. Of course that would have happened anywhere, but here you really have to work for what you want, there are no shortcuts. No complaints really! After two years it has been tough but I'm liking the results :)

New York. Why here over anywhere else?

I don't know what made me fall in love with this city, but it has been in my thoughts since I can remember. Maybe it's the feeling that you can do anything. It gets too crowded sometimes, but I miss it so much when I leave that I don't care about the bad things!
RA+RE. What a concept. Take us through how you were introduced, your involvement and what we can expect from the future.

I was introduced to RA+RE because my friend Jessie is one of the co-founders. I wasn't really part of it from the beginning, they're actually based in Paris and most of the label's activity happens in Europe. However, Jessie lives here and they decided to include me and Mayssam as residents this year as they plan to do more events in the city. For now expect a few RA+RE parties in NYC, and hopefully a release with my name in the future :)

New York vs Venezuela, which Taxi Drivers play better music?

I feel bad for denigrating my country like this, but of course NYC! hahaha unless you really like Reggaeton.

Marite, in a few sentences. Tell us about this mix you made for us. Where did you get your inspiration. Is there anything special you want the audience to know?
I recorded this mix on a freezing Saturday, thinking about how close we are to warm and beautiful days. This would be a great set for some daytime dancing! I also tried to play something different to what I usually do. I hope you like it!
