Interview
Smelly Feet Records: What path brought you here in becoming a DJ?
Leon Licht: I became a DJ because I fell in love with electronic music since I discovered it. To me, becoming a good DJ requires the ability to convince and move the people. I think I accomplished this with the following three things; a good groove, flexibility in sound and realness.
SFR: Have you made any mistakes that helped or hurt you in a way that you would like to share?
Leon: Je regrette rien.
SFR: What inspires you to keep at it as a DJ?
Leon: Having fun with friends at a nice party with sweet music playing.
SFR: Your 3 favorite cities in the world?
Leon: Berlin is my one and only love.
SFR: Choose a venue: Big Room, Intimate Dancefloor, Open Air, Basement, House Party.
Leon: It depends on things like mood, people, sound system, daytime, weather, etc... In general, I prefer small, intimate dancefloors like Sisyphos' Wintergarden or Golden Gate, but I also think private house parties can be smashing as well :)

SFR: What do you love most about being a DJ? What do you dislike the most?
Leon: The things I like the most would be the independence, the adrenaline rush before big gigs, loud music, being the director of the crowds trip, feeling exhausted after a good show, free drinks, guestlist, getting home when other people go to work, and wasting my money on stupid things ;-)
Things I dislike are bad sound systems, broken technics, playing less then 2 hour-sets, and small talk with superficial people.

''...becoming a good DJ requires the ability to convince and move the people. I think I accomplished this with the following three things; a good groove, flexibility in sound and realness.''
SFR: How do you want to be remembered?
Leon: Some people think I am an arrogant idiot, but one can not always be friendly and polite. For example, if people catch me in the wrong moment or when I am stressed, and then want to talk to me about superficial things, I may not respond too kindly. I am not very good with small talk, so when I am approached, I may tell people to leave me alone and they feel offended. All I did was say what is on my mind at the time and good friends can appreciate
someone who is candid and real. However, usually, when people talk to me, they are surprised that I am such a chilled out guy. I guess in the end I want to be remembered as generous, tolerant and funny.
SFR: Chicken Fish or Beef?
Leon: I really love lamb, shrimps and octopus!
