Freiboitar, lets get right into it. Tell our audience who you are, how you got into this world of electronic music, and why you do this.
I am Freiboitar, 28 years young and I live in Cologne, Germany. I started to play the piano when I was 6 years old. Later in life, I played the synthesizer in a German Pop/Indie band. After the band split up, I went to a party and got in touch with the DJ, who showed me the incredible the power of House Music and mixing tracks. I instantly fell in love with DJing when I was 18.
What characteristics do you have that set your productions apart from everyone else?
I am a huge fan of 60s/70s/80s Soul and Funk music. Also, Glam Rock is a source of inspiration. My goal was to combine the warm feeling of Soul/Funk music and mix it with modern club sounds and bring it to the club floor.
How are you pushing your personal limits as both a producer and a DJ?
It is all about creativity. Sometimes it is hard to push myself to work on new stuff because of a lack in creativity. For me, it is important to accept these times of low creativity and not force myself to be productive. As a DJ, I am collecting a lot of new music and practicing to mix them and work out which tracks fit perfectly.
